Henry Claypool applies his lived experience with disability to inform healthcare and technology policy. He works as an independent consultant and is affiliated with the Lurie Institute for Disability Policy in the Heller School at Brandeis University. His public service includes serving on the Health and Human Services agency review team for the Biden transition team in 2020-2021.
In 2009, he was appointed the director of the office on disability and was the principal architect of the Administration for Community Living, created in 2012. From 1999 – 2001, he served as the senior advisor to the administrator of the Health Care Financing Administration, now CMS. During that time, he worked on guidance implementing the U.S. Supreme Court’s Olmstead decision. He hails from Colorado but lives in Arlington, VA.
