William R. Moore graduated from Concordia University with a B.A. in history and received a public health-focused certification in administration and management from the University of Miami. He worked in the Saint Paul Public Schools district for seven years as a behavioral management teaching assistant before moving on to the local YMCA to lead youth outreach programs. He was charged with implementing the YMCA’s nationwide Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) standards and was selected to be a trainer and speaker at the Minnesota HEPA Summit. In his time with the YMCA, he took part in national advocacy days in Washington, DC, where he met with state representatives on Capitol Hill to lobby in support of health-related bills such as the Diabetes Prevention Act.
He worked with the Anoka County Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) as a community health advisor focused on school-based strategies before joining Ramsey County as a health educator. He focused on chronic disease prevention and became the first male doula and lactation educator in the state of Minnesota in an innovative initiative to mitigate disparities in the infant mortality rate and maternal death rate. His doula and lactation work garnered national recognition and award of de Beaumont Foundation 40 under 40 in Public Health. William currently serves as the racial and health equity administrator for Ramsey County, MN.
